What’s inside the Travel Pitching Index
Plus: the launch bonus ends soon
Have you ever read dozens of articles trying to reverse-engineer a publication’s tastes? Pitched blindly, hoping your angle fits? Discovered after acceptance that the rate wasn’t worth the effort?
If so, you’re already pretty familiar with the kind of problem that the Travel Pitching Index will solve in an instant.
Here’s what’s actually inside each publication profile:
Fast facts: Rates, frequency, circulation etc. Also useful for those annoying-but-necessary forms that PRs send you to fill out prior to press trips. Also includes a link for how to read digital magazines online.
Overview: The need-to-know basics about the publication: its intended audience, preferred topics and biases.
Pitching guidelines: If a publication has them, they’ll be linked here.
Sarah’s note: Not on every profile, but if she’s pitched/worked for a publication (or even if she hasn’t, but she has thoughts), she’s included personal observations here.
Masthead and email format: A list of the travel editors working at a publication, plus the email address format(s) they use.
Sections open to freelancers: This is the meat and bones of the Travel Pitching Index – formats that appear in all (or most) editions of the publication, with notes on structure, style, common themes, and word count. Note “open to freelancers”: if a section only ever appears with the name of a staffer or columnist attached to it, that means it’s not open to freelancers and won’t appear here.
The profiles are updated quarterly (or sooner if there's a major change like a new editor or section restructure).
Quick reminder: The free Pitch Pack bonus ends tomorrow night at midnight GMT. If you subscribe before then, you’ll get 18 real commissioned pitches from seven experienced travel writers — a great opportunity to see how they structure these emails.
Access starts from £5.41/month (annual plan), with quarterly and six-monthly options available.

I’ve just dropped Sarah an email with Escape’s rates. Such a great resource.
