Travel writing webinar: The fine art of pitching (and following up...)
Hear from BBC Travel, Wanderlust and Time Out Travel...
We are collaborating with Adventure.com Senior Editor and brilliant freelance writer Meera Dattani to produce a series of webinars over the next year and we’re kicking off with an ever popular topic: pitching!
What makes a travel pitch stand out? Why do some writers have high hit rates while others feel their emails end up in the wilderness? How does your 'great idea' turn into a commission?
Join us on Wednesday 20th September at 1pm BST for the first in a series of webinars curated and hosted by travel journalist and editor Meera Dattani in collaboration with us here at Talking Travel Writing.
On this webinar, commissioning travel editors Lyn Hughes from Wanderlust magazine, Ellie Cobb from BBC Travel, Grace Beard from Time Out Travel and Meera Dattani from Adventure.com will discuss the fine art of pitching — everything from what editors (and their team) really need to know to how best to follow up on pitches, plus plenty of extra tips, insights, and dos and don'ts of this all-important but often frustrating process in travel writing.
We will also allow plenty of time for a Q&A session at the end — you can send questions in advance to Meera at travelwritingwebinars@gmail.com or you can submit them during the webinar using the Q&A box.
Tickets are £6 including recording — you will receive a recording even if you can’t attend on the day itself. Watch this space for more events.
