Learn how Meta advertising can find you a buying audience
18 months ago, operations manager and photographer Kevin Read started selling photography destination guidebooks to his 12,000 Instagram followers. Today, Shutter Safari is a four-figure business, where he uses Facebook advertising to drive passive income. He talks us through his process.
How did you get started?
I had always done photography and was posting on Instagram, but, in the pandemic, I had a lot more time to think about it and wanted to do something different. I posted a couple of guides to how I had taken my pictures and it was very popular with other photographers and I thought it could translate quite well into an ebook: following pictures from finding them in the landscape to finishing as a photograph.
My plan was to come up with four or five variations on how you can write about photography and how you can communicate about photography and then see which ones were the most popular. My second idea was for a destination guide, because I’d just been to Patagonia and lots of people were asking me about where I’d gone in Patagonia and where I’d taken photos. Since then, I’ve written three other destination guidebooks.
